I still like to play pretend.

If I were really a SUPERwoman....

my super ability would be to run on NO SLEEP.

Yup, I said it, NO SLEEP! Don't get me wrong, there is almost nothing I love more than slipping into my warm, comfy made bed after a long, eventful day. Better yet, afternoon naps. I used to love me a nap, back when I was still able to take them. You know, those stolen moments after a bath when you're still wrapped in a damp towel; throw in a warm summer day, an open window, and a cool breeze...ahhhh, bliss (loved those kinds of naps. ok, maybe not so much being wrapped in a damp towel, but I'm sure you get my drift.) Back to my case in point, there is just not enough time in the day for me to get everything I need to get done accomplished. Can you imagine how much one person could accomplish in a day if they could run on no sleep?! I get excited just thinking about it!

Then, up until a few days ago my desire for a NO SLEEP super ability got swapped out for the ability to zap my son into utter silence and complete stillness with the shot of a stare. This being the direct result of a fifteen-hour car drive with two kids under the age of 7; broken up into two days of course.

And yet again, the super zap strength of a stare super ability was replaced. After watching Oprah's last show ever (teardrop, I know). My super ability morphed into an ability strong enough to sense and identify the type of energy people poses when in my presence, either in direct relation to the energy I am generating, or simply toward me. I am curious, more often than not, not so much what people think of me but instead, what they feel when they are around me. I would love to know what they feel when they read about something I’ve done, hear something I say, read something I write, blog, tweet, etc. Does the energy I encompass make others feel happy, at peace, and motivated or annoyed, indifferent, or envious. Hhmmm, I’m left to wonder.

Quote I heard on O,

"Be responsible for the energy you are bringing into my space."

Love it so much, it's getting printed, framed, and placed somewhere in my home. You can keep your bad energy at the door, right next to your shoes {wink, wink.}

On a side note, I'm so happy to back! I've missed you my little blog. And, isn't this ABC Superheroes Art Print adorable and perfectly in theme with this post?!

Perfect enough to hang in a growing superhero's room.

"I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.”
-Coco Chanel

I don't know about you, but if destiny is waiting for me right around the corner, I want to be sure I'm looking pretty damn good!

Yes, I believe in destiny. I became a firm believer of the cliché, "Everything happens for a reason," after the birth of my son. My life took some exciting turns after I became a momma. Some of which were unexpected, while others were ones I was brave enough to take on, on my own. All in all, they have lead me to where I am now, and do you know what? I am exactly where I am supposed to be at this time in my life.

I have this horrible tendency of over-analyzing EVERYTHING and have found comfort in the cliché numerous amounts of times. I am enthusiastic for all that lies ahead. So, "destiny I'm waiting,” as fiercely and patiently as can be.

Every now and then I become obsessed with a color scheme and find the need to incorporate it somewhere in my life. My current obsession may come as no surprise, and can be easily traced back to yesterday's post.
Current obsession reveled...

Fuchsia and Yellow.
Honeysuckle and Beeswax.

Elle Decor

Pops of color combined with a neutral palette, equals just the right dose of happiness. Don't you think?

Elle Decor

Clean and classic with a touch of whimsy. Sophisticated yet fun!

Living Etc.

I have an idea as to where and how I'd like to incorporate this color scheme. The problem with such an obsession, what will I do when an new one arises and this one whithers away?

A Summer Thornton Design

I want my bedroom to look just like this...

I love everything about this space. The large windows. The killer view. The neutral palette. The damask wallpaper. The ottoman at the foot of the bed. The shag area rug. The mirrored nightstand. The velvet couch. The dark wooden floors. The dramatic drapery. The crown molding. The beautiful chandelier. That bed and that bedding.

I want it all!

Enough said!

Coming full Circle

Seen as Julianne Moore's West Village townhouse was featured in the late Domino and has already been blogged about, you may find yourself asking why I have decided to blog about it now? Well as any and many of you Nate Berkus fans might already know, she was a guest on the designer's show yesterday and as great as I think her townhouse is, that is not the reason for this post. I am much more interested in the Isamu Noguchi Paper Lanterns. You see yesterday morning I sat down for my daily ritual of coffee and blogs. Me, my desktop and coffee caught up with my daily reads, one of which includes Ms. Emily A. Clark. She blogged some bright ideas on alternative powder room lighting and the topic of lighting conversion kits arose. Well it also so happens that I purchased a Noguchi inspired paper lantern from Ikea last week. My intentions were to hang it in my hallway but I became discouraged once I realized I really didn't know how and was ready to return it until yesterday's show and Emily's blog post. To make a somewhat long story short, I think I'm going to take my pretty lil' behind to Home Depot to buy one of those conversion kits and I'm going to go ahead and try to hang my Isamu Noguchi inspired lantern. I mean they are quite nice and the stripes in my hallway deserve some much prettier lighting than the current fixture is providing them.

So it took me a couple of days but finally, the big reveal...

Our little hallway was an eye sore. It was an empty space that served no purpose at all, so I decided to stripe it up in order to spruce it up a bit. I love the way it looks! The hallway was already painted white and so I chose to go with Haze by Behr {the color we used throughout the rest of the house} this added fluidity and definitely warmed up the space.

Our linen closet.

Tried my best to get a room shot for you. Please try to ignore the light fixture and that hideous ceiling fan. I'll get to those eventually.

......

The next diy project I'll be tackling will be going here, under this painting, the painting I posted about here. Look at the stripes, don't they look great?!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Pool for thought!

Continuing on Friday's conversation: designers Stephen Sill & James Huniford. Here is an ultra fabulous tub from them. This Japanese-style polished-concrete tub measures just over six feet across and holds nearly 300 gallons of water.

This tub overlooking a view like this...fabulous.

There are some mornings when I just cannot wake up early enough. With every desperate attempt I make to move through the house going unnoticed and unheard, it never seems to fail, little feet follow. I'm stealing a moment of time to write this here post. With the princess peach at my side, entertaining herself in her exersaucer, and my little bolt of energy not far behind, I sit here. It's mornings like these when I wake up at the crack of dawn, coffee brewed and ready to drink, computer on, blog 'new post page' open and then it happens! Mr. energy and Little Miss Princess Peach decide it would be fun to wake up and join me! Oh the joys of being a mother! I love my children dearly, no love compares but sometimes, just sometimes, I cannot help but think of beautiful places and relaxing spaces.

I want to wake up here.

Drink my coffee here.

Shall it be a garden wedding?! If so, shall I wear a short wedding dress?!

Baby Spaces
I don't know but nurseries just aren't what they use to be........oh no, they are so much better! They are modern, bright, bold, full of color, style and character. I love them! I have been in search of a little inspiration lately. 1. for the princess peach's nursery; it's pretty much done but I feel like it's missing something and 2. for a special little someone in our lives, Maximus the Brave . So in my search for some good ol' inspiration I came across some pretty darn great rooms.

I am really digging the variations in size, textures and patterns of this alphabet.

Love the contrast of the orange rocker with the zebra print rug.

And how great is this Robert Abbey light fixture?!

A yellow striped ceiling...love it!

Classic.

And how does this room make for a bold and dramatic nursery?!

And this nursery was by far my favorite of all!
Just look at how nicely the hallway's vertical stripes lead you into this tiny person's space.

Love, love the gray stripes on the walls and the orange and turquoise accents throughout add just enough pop to brighten up the room.

There are just so many elements throughout the room that I absolutely love. The roller blinds look great I just wish I could get a close-up of the fabric. The natural woven rug really warms up the space and who would have thought that a gray velvet ottoman would fit so perfectly in the room?!

How was that for a little inspiration? I don't know about you but it makes me want to go and makeover some nurseries.
