Spring It On

because I'm beyond ready for you!

You've been such a tease, taunting me with sunny whispers and bits of your fresh breeze. I only hope now, that you'll linger. You are just what I need to help me shake what's left of winter.

I look forward to bright and beautiful palettes. Rich color and bold patterns. Red hue nails and pink-stained cheeks. Up-do's and open-toe shoes!

black label.

Chiffon, satin, tulle, feathers, and vintage floral make-up much of ban.do's delicately handcrafted head-pieces. Their couture collection, not only beautiful but fun, and their whimsy....just kill me.

Spring 2011

Back in September, as I swooned over the designs of some of my favorite designers, I couldn't help but drool over the mix of warm & cool tones being used for Spring 2011. I filed away some of my favorites. It seemed rather silly to share these when the leaves were just starting to turn color, but now, with Spring on the horizon, what better time to share the colors I am most eager to strut this Spring...

Honeysuckle
Currently, this bright, almost reddish hue is gracing design blogs everywhere, and understandably so, it's a fabulous color and was voted color of the year by Pantone.
Michael Kors

Silver Peony

Monique Lhuillier

Blue Curacao

Badgley Mischka

Beeswax

Michael Kors

And then, there is Scarlet Red. If you ask me, it happens to resemble Pantone's Fall 2008 Aurora Red. A color that was not included in Pantone's Spring 2011 Fashion Report, but as far as fashion goes it kept reappearing on runways everywhere. It also happens to be one of my faves! Monique Lhuillier's line showcased this color quite a bit {I LOVE her 2011 Spring Collection!}

Badgley Mischka

Carolina Herrera

DKNY

BCBG MAXAZRIA
Which colors from this year's Spring Collections are you favorites?

Neva' too old!

Never too old for one of these....well, maybe not never! Like, I can't quite image my seventy-year-old grandmother rockin' one of these but I think I still fall within the appropriate age range! Therefore...I want. I need. I'm getting a black tutu!!

This Holiday... BE INSPIRED

by RED

Absolutely love the color red, especially during this time of year.

It's bright and bold. Ultra glamorous, yet so very festive.

L.O.V.E. this red cardigan by Balenciaga. Don't you? Looks like this could be the perfect boyfriend sweater!

Dance Away Dress...

let's do just that, dance the night away in this dress.

I absolutely love the detailing of this dress. It's a festive piece, great for the holidays. Don't you think? Not sure how great it would look on me but nonetheless, I still think it's a great little number.

This past Saturday we threw a B'not Mitzvah. We originally planned for it to be held in a tent on our client's estate but instead it took place at a Country Club in Long Grove, Illinois. Naturally our clients feared we'd have horrible weather. I mean it is Chicago for goodness sake. Instead of rain we ended up with 80 degree weather. I must admit that one of the biggest downsides of being an event planner---we have absolutely no control over the weather, hence contingency plans! The event ran quite smoothly and the white and purple palette was warm and inviting. The lounge inspired decor was fab and included custom designed sofas, ottomans, lucite chivari chairs and bar stools, fuchsia glass-top tables, twinkle lights, and paper flowers. Unfortunately my phone fell in the toilet at last weekend’s event and I am still learning the ins and outs of my replacement phone. I took pictures on this new phone of mine but have yet to figure out how to upload pictures onto my computer. As soon as I get them up I will share.

Aside from the great decor, the dress attire of our guests included a whole lot of sequin. I totally fell for a sequin skirt worn by a guest. Here are some sequin pieces that caught my eye, inspired by this past weekend’s event….

Sequined Bell Skirt - J.Crew

Sequin Bustier Cotton Dress - Alice + Olivia

Silk-tulle Dress - Ann Sui

Pops of Orange

Typically when I think of the color orange I can't help but think of fall. This here orange though is not the color of your pumpkins nor anything close to that of the fallen leaves lying in your yard. Nope, not at all! This orange is hot, fiery & bold. It looks great when paired with cool grays, soft neutrals and black. It is fierce and gives any outfit and interior space a dramatic pop like no other! I instantly fell in love with DKNY's 2010 FALL/2011 SPRING Collections. Donna Karen did a fabulous job of incorporating this color into her line, and can I just say how great of a lip color this would be for the fall! LOVE, LOVE!!
